527hp on a VE

Watched a 93 put down 527hp on Floor it Diesels dyno today. Truck looked great and sounded even better. It is a sledpuller, but the owner drives it almost daily (car salesman, so he drives whatever he wants).

The tq #'s were a little low at 838lbft, but it was over 500hp passed 4000 rpm.

YES!!! It was a VE pump, stock 12mm just tweeked heavily.
66/13/71 HTT turbo on a HTT manifold
ATS intake horn
Big custome injectors, around 60lpm or however they are gauged.
Extensive port and polish job on the head.
FASS 200gph lift pump.
Studs and O-ringed.
He does have plans for a 14mm head. Hopefully about mid summer.

Good numbers well great numbers. Too bad he doesn't get on here and share his info. Were these numbers corrected or no? Heavily tweaked might be an understatement fueling to over 4000 rpm. Somebody did their homework. Good post JFlory makes us wanna make more power.

Im no dyno expert, but why would his torque #'s be so low.. You can have all the hp in the world, but torque is what gets ya down the track.. Maybe it is in the cam setup??

The higher the rpm you make power the less torque you make.

Or maybe he is running alot of timing. pinnin it to the head gives you great top end but drops the tq lots.

I think the tq #'s were low because of the extreme fueling from the pump. The pump is practicly gutted and puts out full fuel with the slightest pedal. Also the 66mm turbo doesn't really get lit til about 2800rpm, so as posted before, the higher in the rpm band the less tq. He also has some room to play with timing. This would be very important for more tq.

Yes, this is the truck that was for sale. I am pretty sure he has changed his mind after the dyno results. I personally cannot download pictures on my PC, but may be able to get Floor it to. It will take a few weeks as he is very busy, but will see if I can get a graph posted.

I don't really know much about the VE crowd, but I was sure that the 527hp was a huge number for you guys. I was very shocked myself never seeing one dyno more than 300hp.

Big turbo, and advanced timing will give the low numbers. Sounds like it was dynoed in direct, not overdrive. Ovedrive will give bigger torque numbers too.
Was that diesel only?
A GOOD ported head will do wonders for horse power. That is what will get guys to break 500.

This thin air stinks!

527 I think would be a record for a single turbo and 12mm h/r.

I am not 100% sure if it was diesel only. He does have water/meth, but I am almost certian it was not active as this was just more of a tune in dyno run. He was having problems with the system last year and thought he took it off the truck.

The head is about as ported as it can be, with #4 a little too ported, had a crack that was welded during the winter.

If it is a record, the guy isn't really concerned. He just wants to be able to do some sled pulling and make the top 3.

Truck really is good looking. Fresh paint all around and a single stack.

Yes, it was in direct when dynoed.

I thought you had to have twins and KTA parts to make over 500.

That's pretty much what I thought too! Guess that big turbo, rpm, and airflow really helps!
