A-518/ Transfer CASE SEPARATION

Ordered my torque converter today. I was wondering if their are any special
tricks to separating my Trans from the transfer case?? I removed them as 1 unit and I would rather do the reinstall in 2 steps.... trans first, then bolt up the transfer case.
I am planning 2nd Gen flex plate, shift kit, Hughes TC, Rear
seal.......Should I do anything else while i have her apart??

Just unbolt it and be prepared to catch the heavy thing and the oil thats going to come out from that area. There's a gasket there, either make a new one or use RTV.

When I do I always do it as one unit, if you don't have a good trans jack then I would do it as two separate units.

Put a trans input seal in while your there.

NP205s are heavy. Hopefully you have a tranny jack!

If you use a trans jack, make sure you strap it down good because that heavy transfer case wants to drag it off the jack.

Thats right, watch the speed sensor, you can break that thing quicker than you can say shoot.

tranny

you dont need a tranny jack i just took my tranny off without one i bet its even easier with transfer case out just get some normal jacks and some ratchet straps you shoud be fine and iff you only need to take transfer case out tranny jack is money down the drain if you ask me take a normal jack and strap it on and use ratchet strap for safety
