Well,

I found out what's going on in my front axle today.

If you ever want to know if you have bad king pins, this is how you do it.

Pull into a parking lot where there are commercial buildings that have glass that literally go to the ground / sidewalk. While pulling up in front of the building, cut your wheels hard as though you were turning into that pristine empty parking spot in front of the building. As you're pulling in, watch the front left tire in the reflection of the glass. If your front wheel decides it's going to DANCE ALL THE WHILE during the turn into the parking spot, where the bottom of the wheel / tire is moving towards the center of the truck, back out to plumb, to the center of the truck, back out to plumb, and so forth (yeah, it's doing the jig), then you know there's something loose in the front axle.

Ye hah ! I get to do my king pins. Mark... expect a few PM's From me...

No problem, always ready to help. I knew that the spring hides a lot of slop. Good call on the office mirror, never thought of that......Mark

Well, I was wrong, and some of you were correct.

The U-joint which I installed last year, failed.

As I was taking the axle apart to do my king pins, when I removed the drivers side axle to get the knuckle off, the U-joint which I said had a little rust coming out of the seal wouldn't rotate left... so it was locking up, causing my steering to lock up.

You bastages ! You were right.... but at least I'm doing the king pins now....

No cookies for you ! Soup only !

In all honesty, I haven't had a doughnut in 2 decades. I'm more of a muffin fan, as they aren't as messy...
