I always love the new found power that a manual swap "makes" by getting more power to the ground than a non lock up auto does.

I can't believe it took me so long to recognize the truck in your avatar . . .

I don't know if all of the early trucks were that way, but it sure seemed like the torque converter in that truck was awfully soft. You're going to be enjoying the swap for a long time! Did you ever get your tach straightened out?

Yeah the auto was awful, and im already loving the swap! And as for the tach i think you mean the odometer because i dont have a tach, but the odo does not work and i havent gotten around to it yet, its on my list of things to do along with getting a tach!
