Throw a FluidDamper on that 4BT and the idle vibrations go away. It's a $500 hit though. It's on mt Santa wish list.

By the way, you have to cut three on a 6 cylinder or it will shake itself (and you) to death. The problem on a turbocharged engine is you can't hold open the intake or the exhaust valve to kill the cylinder. Wanna is right in that if you just put solenoid valves on three injector lines the pumping losses would kill your performance and mileage. You could take out three rod/piston assemblies but you would have to machine off the adjacent counterweights and rebalance. It's just not worth it. I'm pulling 20MPG in town by coasting down hills and shutting off at long stop lights.....

You need to hook me up with some of these guys with 4BTs. I'm trying to find one for a possibly chevy swap.

hmmm... got any info to back that up? There is no 3 cyl idle on the HPCR trucks, like I said its a VP44 thing... You can manually control the fast idle, could be what your thinking of, starting around 04.. this allows you to set the rpms from 1100-1500 using cruise control buttons, but this still fires all 6 cylinders.

Back to the 4BT...

Everything I've ever read says the 3 cyl high idle is a VP44 thing. I've never seen a video on youtube of it in a 3rd gen truck. Its known that the Smarty site has an error listing it as a 3rd gen thing. Someone even emailed MADS about a 3rd gen 3 cyl idle and they said it was a no.
