4BT with Bosch 190

Anyone else have the Bosch 190's in a 4BT? I'd like to know what others have their timing set at with these injectors.

I'd say, in general, whatever works on a 6BT would work the same on a 4BT. That is, the engine is identical except for 2 less cylinders. So whatever timing setting works on the 6BT with 190 injectors would give similar results on a 4BT. No two injector pumps or engines are the same so timing is specific to each engine. Just like the 6BT it's all a matter of what the pyro reads, how much smoke, and whether or not it's running smoothly and quietly. Like they say, if it sounds like a Dura-Max or a thrashing machine, that's too much timing....

The 4BT has a whole lot of potential, and probably could make more power per Liter than a 6BT! It has the 6BT injector pump, 6BT lift pump, 3" exhaust equal to 4 1/2" on a 6BT, and the H1C turbo same as a 6BT. So its already got lots of turbo and VE pump and exhaust and way less engine to feed! On top of that you can get mileage that 6BT owners only dream of....

FYI: HTT suggested I use their Stage II compressor with stock 4BT 16cm exhaust housing for better power and towing use. Haven't installed it yet....

Uuuum, the Duramax is very quite compared to our mechanical marvels. I think you meant GMs 6.2l diesel, which is a very different animal.

Thanks. I believe I had some information that had the 6bt at about 1.5mm.

I might have names confused, willieboy? I do know that the early Ford diesels, whatever they are, are so noisy that it is painful to sit next to one at a stoplight with my driver side window down! Shove-me diesels seemed about the same. To me the Cummins of any vintage, except 4BT's, are much quieter or at least have a nicer rattle to them.

With my 4BT idling outside things hanging on the wall in here vibrate and rattle ha haha! I guess I could try putting a muffler on it. Naw......
