Its not good in these motors because the valve springs wont hold 4000 rpm i dont think...and the pump does not supply enough fuel anyways...unless you have the big 14mm Ve pump head.

I would be putting 60 lb valve springs in for that kind of rpm range

#374 is the 3800
#354 is the 4200
These are the bosch numbers.
Any dealer or injection shop can get them and there less than 20 bucks.

354 spring only way to go and it feels pretty strong with enough timing, the pump should hold that, you need to watch out for internal springs and the seal ohh and valves. i just set my screws so it wont go that high only 3800rpm

Most VE trucks I've dealt with make peak power by 2500 RPM regardless of the governor spring.

I got the 354 spring and put it in over the weekend and it is awesome. I never intended to actually rev it that high. I just know that when I put in the 366 spring everything got better from idle on up. thee olde lagmaster spooled up much quicker and had more power accross the band. so I thought I would see similar effects with the #354 4200 rpm spring and I was right. the effect was amazing. lagmaster spools up much quicker, I was able to turn up the power screw more before it got close to runaway. best $20 bucks i've spent by far. My truck is an automatic so I dont really have to worry about valve
spring floating untill I hit somewhere over 100 mph or higher so I don't think I need the 60# valve springs for awhile. I'd love to hear some feedback from some other guys who have tried this spring.
Thanks,
nemo451

If you "float" the valves does it slap the pistons?

What did you do about the length of the 354 spring being longer than stock and the 366 spring?

im running a trimmed 354 spring with lots of timing. Ive seen 4600rpm once by accident. I will never do it agian.

Nemo451 im with you it does feel stronger. But when it comes to the dyno, what you feel and what the dyno shows are two totally different things. I gained hp by switching from a 374 spring back to the 366 spring, but i also changed afew other things at the same time so i cant really prove that it was the spring that gained me more power.
