I've seen a 2nd gen 4" dp on a 93 5 speed 4x4 truck IN PERSON at a meet in october, He had to nudge the firewall to get the downpipe to clear, You know what i mean by nudge .

I wouldnt personally use a 2nd gen downpipe on a 1st gen. They fit very poorly. For pretty cheap you take two 4" 90's and a piece of 4" straight pipe and weld them together. Blam-O 4" downpipe. The only thing that takes a pinch of work is the flange to bolt to the turbo.

Out of curiosity, what exhaust housing is on your HX40? I have the 18.5cm and I can't stand it.

Rip Rook at www.sourceautomotive.biz has a 4" DP for our trucks.

That is the one for HX-40 and S300 turbos. It's a little pricey at $209, but if you can't fabricate one, then Rip is a good man to deal with.

You can get the 4" to work just fine. No firewall mods at all. Now it's close and when I shut er down do get a little bump on the firewall but she works fine. I have one on my 92 behind my exhaust brake. Look at my sig and contact Renagade Diesel works great. I think he used a second jen exhaust system but contact Scott.

With a 5 speed and stock injectors, it doesn't spool around town. I don't see any boost unless i'm in 4th accelerating from about 40mph on up. Even then it's only 5-10 pounds. Max boost is around 25lbs and that's doing 75 and flooring it. I bet a stock truck is quicker.

I daily drive it and would absolutely love a different, smaller quick-spooling turbo but I have too many other things to worry about right now.
