4" to 5" muffler back to 4" ??

Ok.. Here is my dilema, I am having a hard time getting the Aero turbine 4040xl that I want to run... So I am thinking of using the 5050xl which is a 5" I.D Muffler... I have all 4" pipe right now.. So I would use a 4" to 5" adapter to step into the pipe and the a 5" to 4" adapter to get back down to 4" to go to my 4" splitter to full 4" duals out the box corners...

So, would that be completely retarted to use the 5" muffler?? Or would it be kinda cool!!

I personally love my 4" straight pipe, but it's not everyones thing.

DNR, I don't see any reason why you couldn't use the adapters to use the 5" muffler. That thing will look like a monster under your truck though.

Straight through mufflers are the ones most people want to get. It's as close as you can get to a straight pipe, without hearing all the drone caused by a straight through system.

Well, after some calls to a few people I regained the hookup for the Aero Turbine mufflers.. So I am going to pick up a nice new 4040xl tomorrow and 2 4"-5" tips to finish out my system.. It isn't that loud right now with just a dump under the box, but I kinda am over the straight pipe loudness stuff.. I really like the sound that a Aero muffler makes.. I Like to be different!!

To be honest with ya, I have installed quite a few Aero mufflers on straght piped vehicles, and everybody says they can feel a difference with the new muffler.
