Will an exhaust manifold off of a 2004 cummins fit onto a 1993 cummins. what is an HX35 turbo used on, is it the same used on a 2004 cummins. Want to upgrade the turbo on my 93 and have read about others who installed an HX35 onto their 1 generation but i don't know where to find one, what they came off of. What would be another turbo to use. Any suggestions or information is helpful.

any dodge cummins turbo will fit on your 1 gen manifold you just might have to modify the IC piping or downpipe depending on what turbo you use.

HX35s came on 94-98 trucks, and then on 98.5-02 manual trucks. 03-06 trucks used HE341s and HE351s. HE351s are really good turbos but need an adapter to work on a 1st gen. Exhaust manifolds are different than the 12 Valve ones so it won't fit.

HX35s are good on manual transmission trucks as they have a 12cm2 exhaust housing so they spool very quick. I don't know much about the HE turbos but I believe they have a 9cm2 housing but have a 4" exhaust oulet. The HE351VE has a variable exhaust housing that is electronically controlled but people are working on getting a wastegate to control it.

Um... I think the 04.5-07 HE351's do not require an adapter. The 07.5+ HE351VGT requires an adapter.
