When you turn it up your esentially turning up the fuel pressure, the higher pressure tears up the plunger. I tried doing the mod in the sticky and it worked too good, the truck wouldn't start, so i gutted the solenoid.
Buy a universal choke cable for your pull cable. Every parts store has them 5-10 bucks.

mine wasn't Ideling high but I backed out the screw so it wouldn't on start up. If reindexing the shaft worked why would u put a cable on?

i didnt put a cable on mine, it shuts down fine after reindexing the shaft. but it starts hard and i got a gut feeling it gernaded the shutdown selonoid. i dont know what to think. i didnt pull the high idle out. i squeezed a ball hex in there and got that back allen head screw out.

Could u tell a difference in power when u reindexed the shaft?

The shutdown solenoid fails because of higher pressures, did'nt someone post a link to a big explanation from 1stgen.org in the 1st page of this thread? lol

i did see a small power increase, but something is messed up cause when i start the motor it dies, but then i hit the key again and it runs, i dont have shut down issues but i have start up issues now. if it gets bad enough ill gut the seloniod and install a pull cable. but its not bad enough yet. lots more rpms of course.

i indexed my shaft one tooth to high when i put everything back together. then i started it up and it idled super high and wouldnt shut down, i took the lever off again and reindexed to to stock where it barely idled, then i screwed in my low idle screw to get it to idle right. shuts down perfect but now it starts hard, im thinking i have an air leak somewhere else but not sure.
