How much extra parts did you have to use. I like the sound of putting a five speed in my truck. I just thought that putting another automatic would be easier. But I would love to put a getrag or nv4500 in my truck. Which one is the best the getrag swap or the nv4500 swap? Which one would take less modification?? Thanks for the input!

You can buy a conversion kit for the nv4500,that has every thing you need to replace the getrage(a conversion that i will do if my getrage fails me!)to a nv4500......shouldn't be two much diff for auto conversion.....May have to change drive shaft langth...But if you go my way(Gear Vender) you will have the have a new rear drive shaft built any ways!

Kellypckp how much frame tweaking did it take. And have you driven it since you did the swap. I'd really like to try a tranny with lock-up but I'd like to hear some first hand experiances first. Thanks, Matt

od swap

i didnt have to modify the frame or crossmember at all on my 90. just drilled the crossmember holes a little farther back. i did make my trans mount though. used the same starter which should work unless one goes to the lockup trans.
