Ok, so this is my plan, will it work:
But can i use this regulator?

Also, how could i run rubber lines from the Piston pump to the filter?
Put a regulator before the VE, but after the filter. Easiest way to do this is to get a Big Line kit from GDP for a 24 valve truck, it is a bolt-on replacement for the hard line between the filter head and the VE, it uses AN fittings and 3/8 fuel hose so it's easy to tap into.
You will be able to use the high pressure capability of the piston pump to force fuel through the filter, but then it will be regulated down to a VE safe 15-18 psi.

You can run rubber as long as they are rated for diesel fuel. The lines for gas tend to get soft over time. I can't answer the regulator question because I haven't done this upgrade yet, but as long as it brings it down to the psi required I don't see why not.

I don't see any reason you can't use it, its just a cheaper/simpler compared to what BC used, his has provisions for boost reference to increase the pressure as boost increases.

I have one of those regulators sitting on my tool box waiting to be installed as we speak.
As for the LP to filter, when you order the regulator order a couple feet of fuel line, 2 -6AN couplers, a M12 adapter and a M14 adaptor and you're good to go.

Also, another question is did the 2nd gen trucks come with the spacer inbetween the block and the pump? how important is this spacer. is there any way you can run without it?
thanks.
thanks.

Ok, thanks. Will this big line kit work? will it supply me with the fittings needed to run the big hose all the way from the piston pump to the filter to the injector pump?

I would piece it together from Vulcan myself. (Cheaper than the GDP kit I bought)
3ea M12 adapters (IP, Filter in, Filter out)
1ea M14 adapter (LP out)
4ea -6AN pushlock fittings (Plan ahead and buy what angles you need)
3-4 feet of fuel line ( I always buy more that I expect to need)
