2nd gen. downpipe on a 1st gen.?
came across a downpipe for an 01 24 valve and since i'm gonna be putting an hx35 on my truck is there anyway i could use this downpipe? I know it might not fit perfect but could an exhaust shop get it to fit pretty good?

Firewall will have to be clearenced.....
Is it an aftermarket 4" downpipe???
2nd gen downpipes are 3" like 1st gen ones so it's a waste.
Just take the cast elbow off the HX35 and hook the 1st gen downpipe up to it...

if its the 4 inch downpipe the firewall might not have to be cleared. i didnt have to do anything to my 2x4 i just put the cast elbow on and fenagled the downpipe where i liked it. the only problem i have with it is that where the elbow and the DP meet at the ball and socket type connection it tends to leak a little

I'm running a 4" 2nd after market on mine but I doubt it would work on most 1st gens. I've got a 3" BD exhaust brake off of my turbo and it hooks up to a 4" 2nd gen. down pipe. The reason it works is because I have a custom built rear cross member which allows for a straight run all the way back to the tail pipe. I built the cross member when I installed my NV4500HD trans. The exhaust is a custom installation done by Rip Rook. It is a tight fit but works quite well.
As I understand it you would have to change the trans dip stick & down tube to the trans to a 2nd gen setup for clearance. Since I run a manual trans this was not a problem.

I used a 2nd gen 4" downpipe back when i had an hy35 turbo on my truck. It will work if your turbo has the cast elbow on it. Its a fairly tight fit but it'll work. I had to bend my trans dipstick over out of the way on my auto and it was pretty much right against the fire wall, but it would come out okay on the bottom so i could clamp or weld a 4" piece on to it and around the transfer case. I would recommend clamping on to the downpipe at the bottom though and not welding! I made that mistake cuz i was in a hurry to get it on and it was a pain to take out. I used some high temp silicone around the flange where the downpipe bolts up to the cast elbow just to help if i had any leaks there since it was a pretty steep angle. But yes it will work and its much cheaper than buying a 1st gen 4" downpipe.

I used one that came with a hx40w that i bought. I bolted it up & then used a rose bud to heat right behind the turbo exhaust clamp & then prying down with a sleever bar to get the clr i wanted it worked fairly well the key is the rose bud heat it cherry red you may have to heat in a couple places
