Just buy a 2nd gen gasser with a nice body and put your cummins in it.

Why not just buy a second gen? The only reason I have a 1st gen is because I like the styling a whole bunch more than the 2nd gens. Why would you go through the trouble of putting a newer body on an older truck? Plus with the second gens you get a better motor and transmission.

And buying two trucks, and not to mention parts and all your time and labor is not?

If you're going to have to put up with the lousy engine access and the beer can bodywork, you ought to at least get a P-pumped 12 valve in the bargain.
