2nd gen body on a 1st gen chassis
Hi, Since my 93 is getting rustier, and rustier, no availability of nice rust free club cabs. I would like to know what complications of a 2nd gen, gas 1/2 ton cab, on my chassis? I looked for info here before I asked, maybe someone can point me to it if it has been discussed, Thanks, RUSTY in Indiana

I doubt it would work, straight up. You would have to measure frame width, and I'll bet all the body mounts are different. Motor mount differences. This is just a guess, but would be interesting to know. Would the bed match up with the cab......alot of things to measure on this one.

I would imagine that someone has done some homework on this or has done it? It would be nice to have the bigger radiator, intercooler, and evapor from a 94 up. I wonder if the 2nd gen boys have done this, I'll try a fast search.... Wish me luck, Artie

I bet you can find a nice rust free club cab, heck even a complete truck, out of one of the lower states. Yes it won't be cheap to have it shipped to you, but in the long run it would be cheaper and easier then trying to make a 2nd gen body work on your 1st gen chassis.
I just checked the map, and you could easily find a good cab and chassis, or truck out of eastern Washington, Oregon, Idaho or Wyoming. And the transport cost shouldn't be more then $7-800 I bet. I just had my 48 Desoto I bought brought up from southern Cali to Portland OR for $800, and it was a non-runner.
This is the route I'd go personally. Costs less to get rust free then to buy rusty and then fix it.

I know, I'm looking into that too! Kinda hard to believe what a seller tells you, without physically being there... Am looking... hint hint hint!
