250,000 miles started using oil ?
2001 Ram 2500, cc, long bed, edge chip, 4" exhaust, DTT transmission,
replaced injector pump last year. Never have done anything else to engine.
Truck is in Santa Cruz California I am in Hawaii. Daughter phones and says truck is using a quart every 300 miles. I will be there in 3 weeks.
Any Ideas on where to start looking ?? ( she says no visable leaks )

I'd be checking the turbo. Take the air filter of from the turbo and try if the turbine wheel shaft has any play in longitude way.
There should not be any. Turbo could be bad and burn fuel.

This in the wrong section, this section is for 89-93 trucks
but we can still help, if the center section seal in the turbo went bad the oil will leak into the exhaust and get burned or get trapped in the Muffler. Turbo could need a rebuild.

Thanks everyone, I had suspected turbo problem. It is very frustrating to be 2,500 miles out in the center of the ocean and not get my eyeball on it.
What do you recomend ? New turbo or rebuild ?
Re other coments;
Daughter has driven for UPS for 28 years, she knows how to drive !
It looks to me I am in correct thread ? tell me what I did wrong if I did ?
Thanks again and Aloha from Kauai

One nice thing is there are more high mileage ( well used ) trucks here though, so these guys have been there done that more than those of us with lower mileage units.....
And I second or third inspecting the Turbo........

STOP DRIVING IT until the turbo is checked out I've seen a powerstroke run away(and melt down) from a bad turbo putting oil into the intercooler. It came in for an oil change. Kid started it to bring it in and it started sucking oil out of the half full intercooler and screamed before it melted down.
Lossing that much oil and not knowing where it's going is bad.
