Im finally picking up my truck tonight!!

Ive been reading about trannys, and wondering when did they start putting the 4 spd in dodges?

Mine is a 1990, with a 3 spd. So I assume it is a 37RH, correct? The PO calls it a 727. Is there a difference?

How does the 37RH rate in reliability compared to the 4 speed trannys? Anything I should be concerned about?

It is the old 727 3spd automatic they started making back in the 60s

It is a tough trans used behind all of chryslers bigblock gassers. My dads in his 90 has held up well. One bonus is they can be rebuilt for less than a grand if they need it.

His went to around 200K before the reverse band broke.

Yes, that's one of the reasons I bought this rig...the tranny was just rebuilt <1000 miles ago, I have the $1500 receipt with a warranty. I wouldnt have bought an auto with 245k on it.

The truck has 245k on it, so I guess the tranny failed at 244k.

Yeah I looked over the receipt. The tranny was actually $950, but he also rebuilt the Tcoverter, 2 new U-joints, and some "adapter".
All that plus removal and install labor came to $1440.

But what do I care? I didnt pay for it!

Also there is mention on the receipt of either " T.V. Cable" or " T.U. cable" . Does anyone know what this is?

Throttle Valve cable. It tells the hydraulic bits in the trans how close your foot is to the floorboards.
