Well the colder months are comin along and Pulling season is comin to a close if it hasn't already. How did every one turn out this season and how many hooks were made? You Eastern guys probably aren't quite done pullin this year yet. Any big plans for next year?

Well, 3 hooks later with 1 placing, I realize I need a better clutch ($), more RPM's (have the parts), more air (will have it this weekend), more fuel (working for the $$$), and sourcing an extra rear end for the inevitable.

IDK how much more I want to do though. Every weekend pulling or just the occasional? If occasional, then I will be doing air bags in all 4 corners.

Really, what am I going to do with this truck?

I made two hooks with the first gen. First pull with just the pump turned up I pulled 247 and then I put a denny t fuel pin and injectors I pulled 267. Need more rpm and more fuel. Im contemplating p pumping the first gen or maybe finding a second gen to pull with and leaving the first gen as it is. What do y'all think?

Buy a 2nd Gen to play with. Cheaper in the long run.

We made an even 30 hooks this summer. Spent the first half fighting a bad bounce that seemed to come from the truck having more power than last year.

-Shelled out 3 ring and pinions in the rear and 1 in the front.
-Twisted an inner front axle. Better than breaking it like we did last year.
-Bent the rear axle housing.
-Bent the rear lug studs.
-Stuck a plunger in the pump.
-Burned up one of our water to air I/C pumps.

Can't wait for next year!

As for the 2nd gen thing, it might be cheaper, and it might not. It just depends on how much stuff you want to do yourself, and how much you want to purchase.

From what I have seen, the newer truck's suspension is better for pulling, in a stock vs. stock comparison.

Think I made 12 hooks 1 2nd, 6 3rds 2 4th a 5th and a couple mid pack finishes after issues.

Tore up 2 set of mounts, a radiator twice, a lockout(which I just discovered this weekend), twisted the rear shaft out of phase and I think thats about it.

I changeds classes midway through the season also and thats what caused my bounce issues.

its that time of year again! I'm sure a few have already started to pull again and if you did how was it? I'm gonna run this weekend locally in the mod diesel class (up to 2.8") with my current setup just so I can hang weights and run suspension stops. It'll be a good test pull to see how this new trans does/reacts and maybe I'll learn how to run it. Then I should hopefully have a whole new setup in a few more weeks to test again.

Lock it in 2nd if you can. I know the VB needs to be modded for it.

I pulled 205' the other night (in other thread).

Next one I might make it too is either this Saturday or July 13th.

yeah mine won't lock in 2nd when I have it manually in 2nd gear. I'm kinda wishing it did. I'm gonna talk to the builder to see what he could do. I've heard to get things rolling good with my rpms up, then lock it up so I'll probably be in 2nd or 3rd locked. Then to unlock it at the end when I feel it start to bog down and lose momentum and try to get some more feet with it unlocked. This lockup is still pretty new to me so it'll take some getting used to but boy does it make a difference

I think the primary reason for unlocking at the end is to not snuff out the charger by keeping the RPM's up.

I have seriously considered a 4R100 in my truck...

Yeah I know that. I don't wanna leave it locked and lug my truck down and have it die at the end I'm excited to see what it'll do though, even though I wish I had more turbo and fuel right now. I'm just hopin nothing breaks now.

Wow Andrew, looks like you hooked up good. Was it hopping or was it just your torque and a good bite that did that? Have you welded your axle tubes to your pumpkin yet? what tires are you running now?
