My "new" w-350

My old girl. Wish i'd never sold her, but I'm glad the guy that owns her now loves her, too.

here is my ugly pig of a truck> i went to buy a engine and trans and got a truck with it paid 2K for it as you see it could have drove it home except the R&P was shelled out while i was replacing the rear end with a new rebuilt one found out the frame rail was cracked almost completely in to rear brakes did not work at all wiring was a mess on the rear nothing worked etc and the list goes on BUT it is drivable now !!!!! plans for it are 91-93 front clip add a PSD IC new HX35 turbo custom build a new dash layout for all the gauges "think semi" rewire the whole truck as it is BAD!!!!! either custom build a hauler style flat bed or cut a SRW bed in half so the bed sides match the sleeper sides and i can get rid of the dually fenders add stacks up the side and paint it all black. i am sure some of this will change but that is so far

Cool. sounds like a plan.

Is the sleeper built into the truck cab? like where they cut out the back of the cab and connect the sleeper and cab with a boot?

yep seems like a good plan but wow do i have a lot of work to do. I was just out there working on it, i pulled the bed so i can finish fixing the frame rail where the PO cracked it. found out the fuel tank was held up by ratchet straps, the leaf spring pack has 2 busted leafs, there is so much rust/road debris/dirt in the fuel tank crossbeam i am surprised it is not rusted away. There is so much scale rust in between the frame rail and the 2in receiver hitch that the lower rails are bent up about 2 inches and not only did the frame crack in the arch it is also twisted . Soooo I think i am just going to cut it off right where the stretch starts for the sleeper and replace it with flat rails like a semi all the way back. That way there is only one joint on each side. Plus i was up under the front end changing the fuel filter and found out that the drivers front A arm inner mount is BUSTED like where the top of the shock mounts. It is just mangled metal flopping around with the shock still attached. I got to looking at it more and noticed the whole lower mount " spring cup" for the A arm has been bugger welded back on!!! So needless to say i think this truck has been wrecked!! Being as the crack in the rear frame rail is on the drivers side also. So i might be converting over to 4x4 sooner than i thought. Why fix the 2wd stuff when i am just going to have to cut it all off again to go 4x4 right? (BTW i am going 4x4 because this truck is so long and heavy and being a dually it gets stuck on WET GRASS so i am going to convert over to as low as possible 4x4) I already make the conversion brackets for the gas trucks just need to beef them up some for the diesel

oh ya yes the sleeper is part of the cab now the whole back side of the cab is cut out and the sleeper is hard mounted to the frame rails the two are joined with a thin "boot"

ugh lots of fun i guess i may be better off just swapping the engine, trans, sleeper and axles over to a new frame i am going to pull the sleeper next to see if there is anything wrong with he stretch part of the frame. I can not see anything from the under side but i can get a much better look with the sleeper off plus it needs a new "boot" anyway the one on it leaks air and a bit of water

I guess i should start another post? Just for the build/repairs of this truck?

How do you get your pics to attach full size? Mine always show up as thumbnail picks and you have to click to enlarge.
