With 12k in tow on a regular basis leave it stock(can't believe I just said that) your already pushing the limits of the stock driveline. Extra power means extra heat/stress in the trans and rear axle. Your truck would be rated at 16,000 gross with 3.55 gears and 17,000 gross with 4:10.(automatic trucks rated at 12,000 gross either gear set) Take out the weight of the truck and your rated to tow about 10K.

That said I wouldn't listen to me on this one either. Turbo to push more cool air is the big deal with towing fuel is easy and the stock injectors will put down quite a bit of power.

Glad to hear your going to do the spring you wont be disapointed. No way your going to hurt anything with that and fuel from the screw. I personally think the store bought fuel pins are overrated for what they cost (yes im sure there is a few more horses there over a stock pin grind but not enough for the gains you will get in my opinion. Bump the timing a little and adjust the AFC to take care of the added fuel smoke. You wont have a problem with EGT as long as you use a little common sense. As someone said earlier add the M&H timing spacer as well. You will be surprised at the change in throttle response with these few tweaks and once the fun wears off mileage wont be hurt either in fact it will probably improve a little. This might be enough to make you happy and if not then lets talk about turbos, injectors and everything that comes with those.

I've had mine for 9 months and about 6,000 miles and the fun hasn't worn off yet.

So I have found someone with a 2005 3500 cummins that has a blown motor, I think I can get the turbo pretty cheap. The 2005 came with a HE351 correct? Is this the best turbo upgrade for a 1st Gen. what else would I need or should I get of his 2005.

Yes it should have a 351. I think it is the best turbo for a 1st gen, others may not agree. Nothing else from the 05 is useful.
