1991 dodge cummins questions

i know the injector pump is different. but since they dont have intercoolers, but would a intercooler off a 94 and up work on it? and i havent been able to find a air intake for it yet. would one for a 94 and up work as well?

Easy Smoke...crank up the pump, POD Injectors, big exhaust, BHAF. Make sure you get gauges. It'll dump coal all over the place when pulling a load.

bagged, as long as you can make it fit, any intercooler will work. as far as pouring out the smoke. smoke is unburned fuel and fuel adds heat. smoke + towing are not a great combo. take a look through the "sticky" it will tell you how to get plenty of smoke and how to build and intake. there not a whole lot of aftermarket 1st gen specific stuff but everyone here and on the other 1st gen forums have figured out how to do it and it ends up a lot cheaper than from an aftermarket comany. this would be a good path to follow
1. gauges gauges gauges!
2. after getting baseline #'s turn up the pump.
3. if it gets too how (1250 all day towing is said to be ok) try an HTT compressor upgrade ($200-$325 i think) you'll need to put on the BHAF at this point for smooth 4inch intake
4. upgrade the exhaust, either drop the muffler or upgrade to 4 inch.
5. if it's still too hot, look to add an intercooler OR look into water methanol injection.
6. if you want to turn you pump up a bunch for smoke and power when you want it consider adding a "valet" switch so you can clean up the smoke under load while towing.

there is much more but looking in the sticky should explain most of that. you can swap things around if you like. with the exception of # 1. a pyro is a MUST the others (tach and boost) are just good to know.

When I lived in Waco, I was broke (whats changed? heh) but I managed to get my old '92 from a stock hillbilly truck to a soot blowing hauler on a budget. Averaged 24mpg on the highway AFTER the mods...can't beat that! Here's a list ( I may forget a few things, haven't owned the truck in a while)

-'92 CTD Reg Cab 5spd Getrag from Leger Auto Sales in Waco
-BHAF - from Truckmotive in Waco $46
-4" Straight Pipe - freebie 4" and 5" fabricated at home
-Autometer Boost & EGT Gauges - $100 on eBay for the pair, free pillar pod from a previous car I had
-Pump Tweaks - 2.5 turns on power screw, bottomed out AFC and starwheel
-3,200RPM Governor Spring from Diesel Power Supply in Waco for $16
-DDP Fuel Pin from Dynomite Diesel Performance for $125
-Lucas POD Injectors $300 from a good buddy in Waco
-HX-35W Turbo from Double AA Auto Salvage in Waco - $100, then modified with HX40 Compressor Wheel, Oil Journal & Bearing Mods, Lightened Turbine Wheel and Compressor Wheel, all done @ Majestic Turbocharger in Waco when I worked there.
-16cm2 housing from Majestic, pulled from scrap bin, haha.
-4" downpipe, custom fabricated at home.
-Southbend Con O Clutch - $440 from Transtar in Houston

Dynoed 341hp/841lbft @ 46psi Boost
Daily Driven, Hauled everything from cars to to cows
Just as dependable as stock, but more fun.
