So you used NV-4500 fluid in the NP-205? So I should use ATF in my NP-205? I just put in fresh 75-90 when i installed.
I just dont want to toast my 205 if i put the wrong fluid in it. Not that the truck gets drove a ton or will be in 4x4 much if ever.

Yes. That is what I thought would be the best move.
The NV-4500 is picky with the fluids it works well with.
The NP-205 in my experience will run with almost any fluid in it.

It is also a cheaper to replace or rebuild item than the transmission.

I would think mixing 75-90 into ATF in the transmission would be more of a concern to you with that fresh $$ rebuilt unit.

True that! Ill get some more fluid and replace it and try that. You think the RTV will work then?

I did this move about 8 years ago.

The best I can remember the seal from the rear NV-4500 was pulled to fit the NP-205 coupler. Then I lightly RTV'ed both sides of the gasket to seal between the transmission and the T case and bolted it together.
I filled both units with the proper Castrol 75/90 NV-4500 recommends - you could still get it then.
Then after running it for a while, I thought the cavity between the transmission and T-case was at the level it was going to stay at. So I checked both transmission and T-case units fluid levels and topped off.

Other than checking fluids on the units once or twice since, it has been fine for years for me.

Been awhile guys! Finally got the swap finished and sealed up the Trans/Transfer case. The new trans feels amazing! When she hits lock up its a great feeling for sure.
Speedo isn't working though I need to do some looking into that. Put about 50 miles on her this weekend, took the wife and baby girl out for ice cream, just feels good to be driving the old girl once again.
Did find out I've got a leak on my VE pump now so I gotta decide what I want to do with that, tossing a few ideas around at the moment.

Got the fireplace finished, got my RZR built and been playing with that, and have another baby on the way, a boy this go round!

Yeah I’ve got couple hundred miles on it and it feels fantastic, I have another leak at my transfer case. I think I’m gonna have to take it off and scrape everything off real good and put something better than the silicone I used I guess. It’s winter now though and she won’t bet getting out till spring.

Also got an axle seal leaking and my VE pump has a small drip to grr always something.
