I spent some time figuring out how to square up and trim the sides of my transmission tunnel. Then wire wheeled the rusty spots and treated them with metal conditioner.
After that I went on a hunting expedition for my rear driveline.

last night I started a list of the order that I need do things. This is rare for me (the list) but I have been working up to this swap too long and had too many changes in plans to keep it all straight Or maybe I am just getting old.

I don't want do this

No it went 2wd and the 4wd parts are going under my dodge.

This is my dads project. We call it the wanna be but it is going to be a Peterbilt "pickup".
the cab came from a frame at a long abandoned lumber mill. I would have been hauled off for scrap.
We figure it to be mid 1940s Peterbilt.

The log truck is a 1952 and is a working truck. the only part that it 52 is the sheet metal and frame.

Thanks for posting a pic of the '52. I had forgotten how good looking those trucks were -- little things like the lack of crown on the front fenders & the shape of the fender skirt . . . I could keep going.

Boy, a 4x4 1 ton Pete with a 6bt would be one sweet truck, in my opinion!

Back to your truck, though. . .

That's a pretty cool project! Don't sweat making lists. I have a touch of ADD and I get so many different things about the truck rattling around in my head that I end up staring into space in a wholly unproductive manner. That is when I start making lists. It helps me to organize my thoughts and prioritize what is important so the project moves ahead.

My memory isn't as good as it once was. after a battle with brain cancer I miss things I wouldn't have before.
What I do is sit in my chair in the evening and think of something. But by the time I get to it I forget some of the details.

It would be easier if I were doing it in the shop but It isn't going
to work out this time. So the order that I do things changes some.
The advantages are that there is better light and it will be cooler.

Since I was doing the 4wd conversion on the crewcab in the driveway....I too had to plan things accordingly. I would spend hours thinking about what had to be done, and how it had to get done...given the work conditions etc.

I would write down a list of things I "planned" on getting done that day. Don't think I ever got the "plan" done on any given day. But it gives you direction, and a goal to move towards.

Every time I make a list of to do today. If I have three things on the list, I am happy to get one done. Anything else is a bonus. Then there are the days I get ten things done that I hadn't planed on.

Yesterday I made a "lift kit" for our transmission jack. In the past I just used blocks but there never seems to be enough of the right size.

I am going to weld a couple chain links to it for a ratchet strap. I think if I leave it flat It will work for the 727. And for the Getrag/transfercase I can screw blocks to the wood deck.
