Why did you not just use some nutserts?
If you are not needing your heater, leave the cover off the airbox, you will have almost twice the airflow through the evaporator.
Are you thinking of a way to insert a filter in there?

You have way too much energy, you must be one of those younger people.

One reason I didn't use nutserts is I have had them turn with the screw a couple times. and with the soft plastic I didn't want to risk it.
I hadn't thought about using a filter but I was thinking about using a screen under the cowl to keep the big stuff out. That was just a passing thought I don't know if it is doable though.
Thanks for the suggestion on the airbox but sometimes it gets down to 12* in the winter and we get snow a couple times a year when we get a normal winter.
Over all I am pretty happy with how my cleanout door came out. There is just a side of me that sees room for improvement in most things I do. That may be why I enjoy Bonsai so much
P.S I am 53 years young and My energy goes in spurts. I just like building things.

I am DOOMED I tell you DOOMED. There is a BIG craft store opening just down the street form where my wife works.
Oh yeah the truck. I took two HVAC controls and made one. the original had the mounting tabs broken when the truck was assembled.

I made some headway today. You may notice the addition to the message center. I also cleaned up the steering column some. At least the metal part. The plan is to paint it hammered black to match the pedals and HVAC box It is going in the right direction at this point

I got the steering column together and in. I also did a check on my reworked transmission wiring harness. all works so I can put the pedals in and tie up the wiring. I'll take some pictures tomorrow.

Cool stuff.
The trans wiring brought to mind a problem I had with my truck a few years ago: The ground for the starter relay runs through a connector on the rear of the engine, so it can go to the auto neutral switch if so equipped, and then to a crimp-weld on top of the intake manifold where the relay ground joins the fuel heater ground & one or two others IIRC . . . that crimp weld failed on my truck. Now might be a good time for you to improve on that section of the factory wiring, if you haven't already.

Luckily the wiring on this truck is in pretty good shape so it will be easier to do the modifications I have planned. Mostly the fusible links and add relays and eliminate the weak links.
