1978-1979 were the pinnacle of well-built Ford pickups as far as I'm concerned. Congrats on putting the best-built engine in yours!

That's pretty cool. There is a black 76 or 77 4x4 running around here with a cummins conversion. Thats my favorite ford body style.

Will always have a soft spot for them year of ford trucks. My dad still has the 74' highboy 3/4 ton 4spd he ordered brand new. It too needs a cummins swap. And its bright red too!! Great lookin' truck ya have there!!!

Sweet! The farm I worked for in high school had Fords. I like the late 70's the best. He still has his '66 3/4.

What is that throttle shaft you used? With the yellow ends?

thanks alot guys for looking
the yellow tape is electrical tape that is on there to keep the heads on the shaft from turning they are old and want to twist
the tape is there to keep it from twisting until i can find a new one.

a big thanks to Phil Mcmaster
he sold me the engine After helping me pull it out and rebuilt the torqflite that was originally behind the engine and sent it by freight to my house over 9 hours away so again THANKS PHIL

PToombs had a homemade shaft that was a heavy duty, cheap replacement for those.

Its a bad feeling to have the shaft drop to the pavement while turning into traffic at an intersection . I had mine wire tied until I replaced it after that!

An I thought the yellow was a cool boot or upgrade...

Someone had a really great looing late 70's Ford with a Cummins in it out in Lima this past weekend. I think it was blue....but I can't remember....I was not sober
Great looking truck though!

That's sweet man! I have a '76 Highboy that I've been tossing around the idea of doing the same thing....make me love the truck that much more!!
