1976 dodge power wagon

Hey guys, I haven't posted in awhile, been busy with school and work. Anyways I've been looking for a truck to put my cummins into with not much luck. But yesterday I seen a 76 3/4 ton power wagon for sale with no motor. It doesn't have much rust and has a lift enough were I couldn't get it. Would the cummins fit in here?

never assume anything,
your going to want to upgrade that axle anyways, heavier front springs might be considered also, or just a higher lift in the front only to level her out.

I don't think that 44 will live very long under the weight of the cummins.

The 44 will do OK for a while...unless you beat on it. The Cummins only weighs 100lbs or so more than a big block...so while it's not optimum....it will live for a while.

Also....someone swapped that axle into the truck. A 76 should have the Full time 4x4 with the NP203 cast iron case. The Vacuum setup didn't come about until 82 or so....

440trk is right on the axle... 75 to 79 were all full time 4x4s.
As for if it will fit....

Should be a bolt in for you. And you need to get rid of that 44 CAD axle. Go for a D60...even if you use a full time setup.

Good luck.

Yeah man get er dun

And i am sure with all the knowledge here on this sight you will be fine doing an axle swap and putting the motor in.

That would be so awesome good luck.

Hey thanks for the pics. The guy selling it is insisting it's a dana 60 in the front. The transfer case only has 4wd selections and it doesn't have lockout hubs. So could it have come factory with a full time dana 60 up front?

After reading this twice, no it didn't come with that axle. As 440trk said it didn't come out until later. Also when that axle is equipped in a part time 4x4, it disengages when the trans. is put into 2wd. This supposed to cut down of excessive drag.

I wouldn't worry too much about the axle right away. there will be plently of time after you get the motor and trans in there to worry about an axle.
