16" 3000 cfm electric fan

Anybody used one of the flexalite 16" 3000cfm electric fans on their truck? I'm thinking of putting one on mine and wonder if it will cool enough. Mods I have right now are pods, 62x65x14WG turbo, Denny T fuel pin, 534 4000rpm gov spring, 4"single stack exhaust, heavy duty valve springs, right now but plan on having the head ported and polished, o-rings and studs this spring. (it's just that I want the extra power and my clutch on the fan is gone engaged all the time).
thanks,
gary

i have not heard any bad things about them and i have been told you will gain a couple extra horses by not running the belted fan. i dont have one, just what i have been told.i know a couple guys on here have them so you should get some good responces soon.

I have an electric fan off a 93 ford taurus with the 3.8 v6 and it works well and can be had alot cheaper. The only thein is it must be from a 3.8 car. There is a post on here from me all about it if you do a search. That fan draws more CFM than any aftermarket fan.

Did you remove the factory fan?

I would like more faster heat in the cold weather.

Thanks, Tom

Yes my fan is gone. I have an over ride switch for just what you are talking about! I can turn them totally off or (if my temp switches go bad) I have an over ride switch to turn them on full tilt boogy!

I have mine setup so it comes on at 190 or so or when the ac comperssor is on. I also have a manual override to turn it on. I can also override the fan comming on with the ac compressor cause when you are going 60 down the highway you dont need the fan on.

If you tow, especially with an auto transmission then you might be disappointed with the cooling of a Flexalite fan. The stock fan moves much more air.

I pulled the fan off my '92 routinely every year when I changed over to winter tires, and the difference in both power and MPG wasn't enough to notice. I did it purely for it to warm up faster.

One thing you need to keep in mind is that if you engage the A/C and you don't have any airflow through the condenser, A/C system pressure can eventually build to the point where it'll burst something. Note that the defrost heater switch position engages the A/C compressor. With mine, whenever I had the truck stopped and idling for more than just a minute or two I'd make sure the switch was set to the floor position.

I have a Hayden 16" that I don't even hook up until I start running the air conditioner. Make a very noticible difference in the "seat of the pants" drags, as well as the noise levels of the truck. Much quieter.
