14mm Pump Mod

Hey Guys got most of my parts rounded up or on order and was wondering about the larger head pump mod. Are these available readily from KTA Cummins? Are they a major install? Pump tech only? When doing the 14mm head are their other pump mods I should consider? Sorry for all the question but I dont want to miss anything when the rebuild happens.

KTA had four 14mm rotors left, Bill did his on his own, I was going to buy one from KTA but I'm p pumping mine. U can reach him at diesel central. U should be able to install the rotor your self.

bgilbert,Stomp, and other 14mm powered guys. How are the pumps doing? Would you consider it a reliable upgrade or better left to the drag racers?

the biggist probem IMO,with the P pump is getting the pump, and gear, in time(no key way) then keeping it in time (cleanliness has to be perfectly if thay are going to hold with high horse power setup.

The other problem is that doing a P-Pump conversion shalt make thou a heathen, and for that thou shalt be excommunicated from this Noble Realm of The Lord's Pump.

I agree with you guys the VE is the way to go but I would like to see 500-600rwhp on W/M (my kit is now here hehehe) so I need some constructive info on the 14mm conversion. So please anybody using one or if you know some one with one please point them this way to pass along their info. This is really the last piece to my high horsepower puzzle.

alot of them have failed, brians is still going but his truck also hardly gets driven and he has an aremotive a1000 pump with lots of fuel pressure. from talking to him that seems to be the key to keeping them alive, lots of fuel pressure.

Does that mean that you need 400hp to use it?

I think it means they aren't working too hard to make 400hp, so the chance of failure is somewhat less.

Regardless of it's untested reliability. I would really want a 14 mm rotor setup. KTA-Cummins really knows these trucks inside and out, so I would trust his superior craftsmanship.

Mine is still alive and doing well. It needs fuel volume, not pressure. It's capable of flowing more fuel than a stock fuel system can supply. These things don't run too well dry. It's not a bolt up job. You might want a professional to do it, or have a spare pump to play with etc.

Pump mods - governor spring, HD plunger return springs (don't have the pn, but it's on here if you search), and stock/unmodified afc foot.

I don't think you need 400hp to run it, but it will make it easier to produce 400hp. You'll need something bigger than a hx35 turbo. I ran my pdr hx35-16 for a short while with the 14mm pump and the egt's were toasty and my boost gauge skyrocketed with minimal throttle.

Look to upgrade your current turbo, injectors, boost gauge, clutch, and cylinder head if you want to get near 500rwhp. I lack the cylinder head mods and AIR for a good number.
