12mm arp head studs

12mm arp head studs

just got em and my new motor just got a question do i really have to get the machine shop to lower the valve tower at the head bolt height?i hope not cause i aint got no mo money its all goin together tomarrow and goin in the truck friday hopefully any info thanked before i get too far along

You have to have the rocker stands cut down .200 thou if they are the later style studs. The older ones had to have the valve covers drilled, above the studs.

well then i get on the phone and talk with the guy that did the motor for not tellin me then hopefully i can get him to do it for free

then do even the p pump motors need to be cut?cause the guy that had the block and the other guy that had the head both did motors for jim and he did the 12mmarp studs so i dont know

With the updated studs, they all have to be cut down.

well i talked well pmed jim and he say that all i got to do is grind a little off the web on the valve cover and a couple of other guys where sayin the same thing and i havent talked to the machine shop at work to see when the main boss will be there

I wouldnt do that. ARP designed the studs so that the rockers need to be milled. If you dont the studs wont be threading into the block as far as they should be

You will need to disassemble the rocker pedestals by removing the c-clips and removing the rocker arms. Use a scribe and mark what rocker came from what side and from what pedestal. IE #1L, #1R OR #1I, #1E and so on so that you can put them back together the way they were. Also use some assembly or oil.

If you dont have them milled and you install the studs the way they are supposed to be installed, then when you put the nut on they will not thread on all the way and you loose all the clamping force of those studs. I would definitely not do this. DO IT RIGHT the first time.

ok so then ill try to find a machine shop,all the places i called yesterday kept telling me no we dont do that or they havent done it and dont want to do it
