Can I have that switch and still use the stock switch like normal? I assume this would just go between the stock switch and the solenoid then?
Yes, it will not change how anything works when the switch is off.

The wire you want to tap into goes right to the OD solenoid. Crawl under left side of the truck, there are two plugs on the trans. The one that sticks straight up is for the OD solenoid. It has two wires coming out of it. One is blue and is hot whenever the key is on. If you ground the other wire the solenoid is energized. Follow those wires to someplace convenient and tap into the one that's not blue (should be orange with a green stripe), run the wire into the cab to a switch, and the run a wire from the switch to a good ground.

The stock OD switch is just a momentary pushbutton that lets the PCM know that you've requested OD. The PCM will do what it wants to do.

I don't think that my torque converter is to happy with me right now . If you want to take a ride in mine we can arrange something. I will drive it down there and we can meet up. I will let you drive and see how it compares to yours.
