At least the fog ain't freezing here this morning. Supposed to be in the mid to upper 50's today. The weather guy said the same thing for yesterday, only got to the mid 30's.
Had a huge red oak, ~60" diameter, start losing limbs. It's right next to the house and all the limbs falling were away from the house. A couple of tractors, a truck load of chains and rope, and several screaming 390 Stihl's got it on the ground without eating the house. A 12 pack later the limbs were off and cut up. The trunk will be cut up today. 75 ft up from the base it finally got narrow enough where the 22" bar would go all the way through without working from both sides.
Gotta make the rounds. Tasked with feeding the animals and milking the goats for the neighbor this weekend. Twice a day.

Not a bad start to the day, I wake up smellin the essence of crockpot goodness..... makin a big batch of Venison stroganoff for the anual gun club veni dinner.......... what a shame, no stew meat to use, had to use backstraps. 33 out right now, and some white areas showin up on radar but that stuff will have to wait, no way I am missin out on things like corned venison, pheasant nuggets, jambalaya, stews, roasts, etc etc etc...... too bad its a private affair and I can't invite the locals, but if anyone happens to be at the Clinton elks, pop in the back room and say hello.

Har har! I guess after the last few posts in last weeks thread you finally got the message. SR, glad you got that tree squared away without damage or injury. That's gonna be allot of firewood for sure. Mikmaze, I love the smell of crockpot in the morning. Lary, I thought you were still playing I'ma gotto find my bits. Mark, you need to do something nice for her. (she's probably going nuts with you hanging around the house for two weeks)

Mornin all

Top your really dating yourself if you know how to play Ina Goda Davida. Naw I don't think anyone will recognize that even if they were brought up in that era. Memory is already gone long time ago. I know I'm meeting new friends all the time. Seem to have familiar names though.

Dang weather is gone down the tubes, Yesterday was only -1*C, This AM is -20*C. Weather girl says it's going down to -30*C by tonight. And we're getting snow and wind. I knew that we would pay for the good weather sooner or later. Was just hoping it would be later, much later, like after I kick the bucket.

SR Good to know your going to have a source of wood for next year. Probably going to miss the shade nest summer though. Oh well time to start planting new ones for the grand kids to enjoy.

Fiver your broker is loving this, gets paid for buying and for selling. What a job that is, he's making money no matter what.

Hat I think that she just saying that out of sympathy cause she's feeling sorry for ya. Sore paw and everything. The TV had nothing to do with it.

Got to head to church, catch you later.

The old tree was one that the roots got damaged when we cleared the area where the house was going. had a real dry season about 4 years ago and I don't think it really recovered. There's an equally large pith elm a little further away that will have to take its place. Hated to see it go but it will be replaced by something, probably a bunch of blueberries to make the wine with which to console myself over the loss. Actually, we're going to clean the butt up a bit and put a picnic table top on it for the g-kids.
Got a lot of brightness outside. Did someone set off a nuke? Having to wear shades in the house.
Counting down the days like a short timer. 345 to go and I'm looking forward to it. The military is not what it used to be. Too many people willing to use the bodies of others in order to climb the pedestal from which to bask in the light of their own self importance. The old saying of it's an Army of One is true. However "It's an Army of One, ME" fits better now. I will have no problems keeping busy. The wife is seeing to that. I will develop the Willie Nelson look for the first time in my life. Pony tail and a beard. Grow it and then cut it off just to be able to say I did it.
Saw where Top tuned up the old Martin. Wife bought me a left handed Fender acoustic for my b-day. It's been 30 years since I've played. I can't understand why my fingers get so sore so quick. Maybe we can get together sometime and go through some of the old songs from the Blue Kangaroo in Hawaii or Marys in Saigon.
Gonna git outside and enjoy the sun. I see the son out in the blue berry patch working and he looks like he might need a cold one.
