wonky tach sensor

Driving the 95

symptoms, when i cold start and drive it, tach is super wonky for about five minutes. WHen truck is warmed up, tach works great up until it is over 2000 rpms, it jumps to 2200-2500 and back down, if i drop below 2k rpms, it works flawlessly, Did KDP a couple of weeks ago, tach worked well before that. Tried to set it to 50 thousands of an inch, by using a business card folded in half (read it somewhere that it was the rough equivalent, not sure where tho....)

also works flawlessly free reving, NO gsk yet, no mods other than exhaust and gauges...(came with the truck)

is my sensor bad, or is it the damper...

thanks guys!

Did you happen to take it completely out or just hold it out of the way? I just used a single thickness of a business card, worked great.

Anyway, mine had oil in the connector, had to use contact cleaner to get it clean, wasn't real easy to re-connect, perhaps you didn't get it snapped all the way together?

took it out all the way.. perhaps i need to redo it... no oil in the connector.. was pretty clean when i took it out and put it back in....

Not too hard to do..

the tach sensor is easily accessible so i could readjust it.. removed the connection, double checked it, was clean, and this time it clicked into place... seems to me that it wasnt properly connected to begin with... which might have been my problem all along.... well see for now if i could get it started...
