whats the normal temp of the coolant? mine is less than 140
I think I need to replace the thermostat, but was wondering under no tow outside temp 60 degree what would the coolant temp be? Mine stays below 140 which means the anti wear additives are not being activated. So Before I start to work on it want to make sure normal temp is about 190?? real world

180-190 all the time, but it does take about ten minutes of driving to get it there. If your truck won't reach operating temps, your thermostat might be stuck open or missing all together.
It is very important that it runs the right temp, too cold can allow condensation build up in the motor and cause problems.

Yep, new thermostat time.
Greenie had that problem when I bought her, turned out a piece of gasket had gotten stuck and was holding the poppet open slightly.
These things have such an overkill cooling system, it doesn't take much to let them run too cool.
