what would it take to make 350 hp?

my truck is a crew cab long box 4x4 5 spd with 1500 -3000 LBS in box every day some times i pull a 17 foot boat i live in B.C. canada. big hills all over i dont want lots of black smoke all the time. what do you guys think about gov spring kit 3000 or 4000 and what plate would work best. can i just pinch off the waste gate line?

The plate's purpose is not to control EGT's, but rather to control fuel quantity. But! - EGT is directly proportional to fuel quantity and air quantity. Sooo..... in a round about way, the plate actually does have a lot of control over EGT's, especially on a truck equipped with a stock turbo. There are only two ways to decrease EGT's - Less fuel or More/Cooler air.....

You are correct and so is 9812vram. Where do you think your boost will be when your pulling a load up a hill or taking off from a stop light with load? If you like having to be carfull and have one eye on the egt's all the time then fine, go for it. It only takes a minute or two of forgetfulness and your pistons will be goo.

EGT's can still get high, even with a conservative plate. AFC position and settings are going to have a greater affect on EGT's. EGT's can get up even with lower than expected throttle input, well before a plate would start limiting the fuel (unless you have it pulled all the way back). It just seems that people make out that running no plate is some sort of voodoo and its bound to melt your engine down.
