What would I expect to pay for a rear main seal

Replacment on a 96 with a 5 speed? Parts and Labor?

i'd guess 2-3 hours labor... 200-250?

I'd expect a bit more than that. Gotta pull the tranny,clutch and flywheel to expose the seal. Be about the same price as a clutch job.

Yup, i was quoted 4-5 hours for mine. Just bought a new seal with wear sleeve from cummins today $128, going in Monday for replacemnent. Be sure to have a good look at the crank to see if there is a groove in it or not, if it does you will need the seal with the wear sleeve like i got or it wil be leaking again in no time.

Figure around $350-500 because of the need to R&R the trans, and pull the flywheel.

The seal is about $40-45 from Cummins. Install took me 15 mins, but I did it with my trans removed (was rebuilding the trans).
