What would cause this?
96 model w/ auto trans, Runs like POOOO cold and pops back through the Turbo, Runs half way OK after it warms up but Smokes Blue all the time. Is this thing Toast or is it a pump/injector problem or?
Please help.

The 2 things I'd check first are timing (may have slipped badly- it'll run like that if it's about 10 degrees late). And fuel supply pressure (no pressure, bad overflow valve, maybe even plugged filter or strainer.)
I hope it's that simple.

I'd lean towards timing also.
With it running, pull the dipstick, if it has a lot of pressure, oil, etc., coming out the tube, it's got ring, or piston issues.
Are you saying $1000 for the truck? Take it, its fixable.

Run, don't walk and get the engine. A set of new 370 horse marine injectors will run you like $400 from piers-no core charge. If you only wanted stock ones, you could find some used for about 100 bucks or less. I sold my stock ones for $80. The other stuff named is even cheaper.
