What transfer case and standard tranny is in a 1994 2500

Has the 94 got a chain drive transfer case and what is it a 208? How about the standard transmission, is it a 5 speed Getrag? Looking for a donar to put under a very clean 1993 Suburban and would like "the best" drive train. Found a 94 2500 with 205000 for $3,000.
Thanks,
Dave

trans/t-case

the 2nd gen for '94 introduced the new venture 4500 5 speed manual, one of the best transmissions ive pulled apart, very durable, with one flaw, 5th gear sits outboard of the case, and the gear is cut to put thrust against the locknut, the torque of the diesel, eventually breaks the nut loose, and you lose the gear, the update mainshaft is channeled to use a lock washer for a permanent fix. the 241 t-case is a dependable case, for every day general offroad capicity, aluminum case is vulnerable under extreme conditions, extreme capacity calls for the earlier 205, a military proven hero of the 4x4 ranks, advance adapters has what you neen to mate the two, if you decide this bullet proof route, this is what i run, good luck!

the transfer case is probably a 241DLD(light duty) there was also another transfer case used used in the 3500 and later 2500's it was a 241DHD(heavy duty). They are the same except the DHD has a one piece tailshaft while the DLD has a 2 piece tailshaft. most pullers want the 241DHD or they upgrade to a 271 transfer case. I haven't heard of many using a 205. The problem with the 241DLD is that the snap ring in the tailshaft will come loose, but there is a company that makes a fix for that problem

So did the first generations use the 205, say like a 1992?
I've had a 205 and was really happy with it, not that I did anything serious with it, just plowing.

Yes 93 was the last year for the 205 and the lock out hubs . In 94 everything changed -body,front axle lock +coil springs, 241dld t-case,inline injection pump =2nd gen truck.
