Mine will go to 3400 and stay there as long as I mash the pedal.

spinning and having power are two different things imo.

OK, I can be pulling a heavy trailer, climb to 3200 rpm, hold it as long as I want, then accelerate to 3400. As far as I'm concerned that is "having power".

Original pump with 3k GSK and #4 plate fueled to around 3,400 rpm and maxed out at 3,600 rpm.
Replacement pump fuels to around 3,200 rpm and then limits at 3,400 rpm
Verified both on a Dynojet

bostongsx;
If you're seeing less with your truck that is common on the 94 & 95 pumps. Many prefer a 4k GSK to get some more r's

Actually a very good observation.
My assumption is the 3,000 shifts was a stock converter and valve body. Your new trans includes a custom stall converter and improved valve body.
You over powered a stock converter. Did you notice after lock-up engine dropped 750-1,000 rpm? VERY common after a GSK and increasing the horspower beyond 250 or so.
