What oil filter to run?

Hmmm Didn't prefill either.
I notice that there was no oil pressure for a couple of seconds when I started it.
Of course I'm sure the guys that were changing my oil in the past never prefilled it.
So this time probably didn't do much damage in comparison to the overall results of the past 6+ yrs of oil changes.

Those were great tips from Lil Dog on the inlet hose removal and waiting a few minutes. I'd just add to double-check and make sure the old filter gasket didn't stick to the flange. Some guys have accidently left it there and the resulting double-gasket will leak oil and cause a huge mess on startup.
Also, you might want to consider buying a Fumoto quick-drain valve for your oil pan. It makes the job much simpler with less mess to clean up. You can get them at Geno's Garage, or just google fumoto.
