What fuel pressure does a stock lift pump produce?

I want to get a fuel pressure gauge for my truck. What range should I get? I have Autometer Ultralite gauges and want to get one to match the existsing gauges in my truck.

You need at least 40, most use 0-60 gauges. 25-27 at idle, and 32-35 running down the road is the specs.

Cummins' specs are are 17 - 22 psi at idle and 25 - 35 psi at 2500 rpm (no load).

I run an adjustable OFV and it pretty much pegs my 40psi gauge at idle.

How important is it to have a fuel pressure guage? I'm only pushing right around 430 HP right now so i didn't think i'd need one of those until at least 500+

It isn't about HP as much as it is a normal diagnostic need. These things start running worse and worse, but that is after you have already lost enough FP to be relevant.

IMHO they should have come stock with Boost, EGT and Fuel Pressure gauges from the factory.

You're looking for trouble.
FP in excess of 45 psi can blow out expensive to replace internal injection seals or even crack your fuel filter open.
More is not better, there is absolutely no advantage to running more than 35 psi max.

I hope I don't blow a fuel filter at 38 or even 45psi. That would be a poor filter! Even a 2l pop bottle will nicely hold 60psi...

38psi is where it was set when I got the truck. 235,000 miles on the original ip.... I don't know how long it's run that way except for the last 10,000 that I've put on.

More fuel pressure fills the plungers quicker and forces a minute amount of extra fuel in. Not a big gain, but without a hundred pennies, you don't have one dollar...

I hope I don't blow a seal now that I opened my mouth... lol
