What does a Camplate do??

A shop installed a #10 Camplate in my 98. What does it do? What effect does it have on mileage?
Thanks for the education this site provides.

The cam plate (fuel plate) is a profile for the gov arm to slide up to determine how hard the pump fuels. So they installed a 10 plate, which is more aggressive than stock and allows the pump to fuel harder. But it's still not a aggressive plate compared to a 100, or a 0 plate which allow the pump to fuel almost full. You shouldn't really notice a difference in milage, just power. It all depends on ur right foot for milage. You can also move the plate forward for more power, or grind it to a 100 for more power. Do u have guages? Once u start pushing more fuel u definently want to be able to monitor temps and boost. But a 10 plate is a good all around plate to mod around.

changes the way your fuel rack delivers fuel, dependent on rpm and load.
