What do you guys think about this

Today I went to Goodyear to get an alignment done little did I know they would "FIND" things wrong with my truck and try to charge me 2600 dollars for an alignment job that started out at 63.99 They put it up on the lift to do there "FREE" Preventative Maintenance Analysis and Courtesy Inspection and told me that I had 1) bad right rear axel seal (said its leaking) 2) Gear Box (leaking) 3) Power steering pump (it was almost empty) 4) Upper and lower Hoses for Radiator (they were soft) 5) Cross threaded stud Right Rear. Need some advice on this, Thanks guys I really appreciate it

This is pretty much standard procedure for shops. When I worked at Tires Plus, every vehicle got a free courtesy check, in part to look out for the customer, but also to find work for their mechanics. You'd be surprised what you find when you have a truck on a lift and really look it over. It's hard to say what to replace without seeing it. the rear axle seal could actually be a leaky wheel cylinder, and the hoses could just be based on prev. maintenence.

I'd tell them to do the alignment.

Yeah, have them do the alignment and check it out yourself or another shop. A lot of places like that think a little oil means a leak. They are just trying to make some extra money on you. I am supprised they didn't tell you that your wheel bearings and ball joints were also bad.

check your hoses your self- blowing one of those in the wrong place cuold be ugly. they are an easy change- just be sure to drain the coolant first

Make sure they check the hydrolic mufler bearing and top off the break light fluid. Just have them do the alignment and have someone you trust do the work.

Sorry I didnt go into detail here. Rear wheel cylinders were just upgraded 3 weeks ago to the chevy One tons and the power steering pump is fine I think, I know the gear box was bad and I am going to fix that and get the brace for it. I think they wanted to replace the whole P/S system because of the bad box, and that only was like 1100. Now I have no idea about the axle seal or how to do it or how to tell if its bad or not. I know that when I pulled the old wheel cylinder out it was in bad shape and didnt take much to make out come out of it.

Next time you go there and they tell you what is wrong ask them to show you what exactly they are seeing. I actualy work at a Corporate GoodYear store and we HAVE to be behind what we recamend(sp) If they show you little stuff or if they tell you its just preventative maintaince they still have to give you a reason why they would try to sell it to you..
