what determines 12v hp ratings 160-215?

What makes it look like a 160 pump? My 175 and 215 pumps look identicle. The barrels, cam, delivery valves, plate, plate position could all be different from a dodge engine. As well as injectors. Lots of things that will look externally the same that are internally different.

I pulled the engine apart today. The good news is that it does have piston squirters. The bad news is that three of the pistons are cracked anyway. So much for a good deal!

I would say injectors. Just like the 24 valve huys have 275hp injecotrs.

I love my 95 yes it's a dog stock, but afew free mods and it will get with it. but then you will need a T/C and shift kit. I also think the timing is retarded more than the higer HP versions something like 12.5* ver. 14*. but it can be made to run.

This response is the closest to the truth, however the upper helix of the 215hp plunger retards timing or shortens LPC as rack travel increases. Many parts are shared between the various models, some are not.

That makes more sence as to why they call it a retard notch thanks for the correction
