I don't think stock input shafts are expected to handle 866 lb ft, there WiseGuy. You have some real power, take it easy, MAN!

700 HP won't break it if you drive like you got 300. It's all in the foot. Yu know that.

i snapped mine in half at 411 rwhp, and a dose of stupidy. i was running 50 or so in 4th gear. the rear dual were spinning and grabbing. it was in a big sweeping corner. the 3rd time they broke loose and grabbed the input snapped. i doubt i would have broke it in a 3/4 ton, i think it would have just spun. mike

As a note to staying out of the pedal. I just turned 20, I need some serious responsibility training! Maybe it just seems everything wants to race..... I ran a 0 slid out, the starwheel out, and actully did pretty good, but it was just those every once in a while occasions a power stroke got beside me and well, lets just say got choked on all my black smoke woops. 3 good times and thats all she'll take with a hx40. But my truck sets more than i drive it, guess i know why hu?

I broke the stock one but I had a DD clutch they seem to be a little harder on them than a single disk clutch. I was driving normal but towing a trailer in 4th gear at about 1800 rpms went to pick up a little speed and snap, but Im sure the sled I pulled the week before didnt help any.

The unstopable force (cummins) meets the imovable object (8800# truck) sitting on a high friction surface (asphault)

I broke mine also

but my engine is totally stock and my tranny is auto!

I think the guys that rebuilt my auto might have somehow bent the shaft when they installed the rebuilt tranny. Its a heavy duty tranny now with pressure kits and brazed torque converters and SS basket etc yadda yadda

Okay, lets say that you upgrade to the larger 1 3/8 input shaft. Then at what HP/TQ level do you have to start worrying again?

Ive not heard of many or if any of the bigger shafts breaking but Im sure someone has, I would say not until at least 700-900 HP somewhere in that range but I really dont know.
