What is the "best" year model to buy
Of the years, 94 - 98.5 what is the best year for equiment on the 4 wheel drive and the 5-speed manuel, any problems, I know that new is usually better especially with the 215hp pump but anything else that stands out?

The 98.4 12 Valvers are a rare machine. At the 98.5 mark they had the 24 valve come out. In 98 you got the first year of the quad cab also.

Rare truck, but I would like to find one.. 98.4 12 valve 2500 Quad 5 spd 4X4.... I'll just keep dreamin... [undecided]

J-eh

The gear case was changed in 98 with the 24 valve engine or 98 1/2 model. However, Cummins continued to use up the old style cases on hand. Having a 98 model 24 valver doesn't mean you're exempt from having a kdp problem. It has happened to members at the TDR site.

Jerry
