water in fuel light
I just power washed my engine bay to degrease it, and when i went to start it to get it back in the garage the water in fuel light was on. so i started it quick, just to move it in, it was running no longer than 30 seconds. it idled fine, but when i pushed in the accelerator, it spitted and sputtered, and then stalled out just as i pulled it in. Im not sure what to do exactly, im a new cummins owner and im in need of some help, im not even sure how to drain water out of my fuel filter. (theres no pet **** on the bottom of it)

On the 95 you reach down and pull up on the flare around the tube. No petcock. It is spring loaded and will re seat when you let it go. The WIF coming on after a wash is common. Put dielectric grease on the connector to stop water from shorting it out.

There is no water in your fuel.
Common problem after washing the engine, the connector to the sensor is wet.
Let it dry on it's own ignoring the light or pull it apart and dry it.
Connector is on the wires coming out of the bottom of the fuel filter.
To prevent it in the future smear some dielectric grease on the connector before plugging it back together.

thanks! when i look at the diagram, i see there's a fuel separator/drain valve, but on my fuel filter its like the bottom of an oil filter. Did the owner before me discard it, and put on a fuel filter thats on it now? There is a lonely plug near the fuel filter, thats not plugged into anything, should it be plugged into a water in fuel sensor? http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo....31852-S-WIF-DG

Sounds like the P.O. replaced the original with a different unit and tossed the WIF piece that screws into bottom of the filter. Connector is probably for the WIF sensor that you don't have. Stock filter can has a threaded hole in bottom for the sensor.

Sounds like the old drain valve leaked and previous owner decided to use a filter without a port for it.
I'd buy a valve/sensor from genos and some of the correct filters from them also.
Their filter prices are competitive.
