Washer Thickness for 215 Injectors?

My truck came stock with 215 injectors.......I swapped in some 370's several thousand miles ago. I recently converted my truck to run on vegetable oil with a 2-tank system and want to put my 215's back in.

The local diesel injection shop pop tested them, tuned the pop pressures, replaced 1 nozzle that wasn't atomizing very well, and put new copper sealing washers on. Problem is the washers he put on are 1.5mm, which is roughtly 0.060". He said he got the washer thickness from bosch based on the numbers on the injectors. Is he correct or do I need to get the cpl from my engine and go to cummins? Or does someone know what washer thickness I should be using? Thanks.

I know when I put mine in, I ran the thinnest ones in the piers injector install kit. Everyone says they are the ones to use.

Washers

Waylan, Good to see ya over here from Frybrid Forum. I've been through this too. When I used the thin washers that came with the injectors they leaked. I replaced them with the thick ones and have had no trouble with leaks.

Use the thickness the injector manufacturer recommends.
If the injector is in too far or not enough the spray pattern will be adversely effected.
It's really not something you want to do by guesswork or trial and error.

Thanks for the responses guys.

AKG, did you ever get your turbo-busting figured out?

So far as the washers.......I've read infidel's responses in other posts regarding washer thickness..........and the local injection shop stated the 1.5mm washers were spec'd by bosch for the number he read on my injectors. Only problem with that is that I "remember" the original washers appearing much thinner.........but since he threw them all away, we couldn't verify. I also realize that the washers will compress when installed, so maybe the local injection shop is right.

Again, thanks for the responses.

Waylon, why don't you try calling another injection shop or three and see what they have to say?

Bill,

I called Piers.......and they said they thought it used the .040 washers. Does anybody have a reputable injection shop I can call for this information?

Thanks,

Waylan

I got mine from cummins they ask for my cpl# never wanted to look at the injectors. The new ones were the same as the old ones don't quote me on this but I believe they were .020.
