Vibration in shifter and seats at 50+mph
I have had a vibration that I cannot stop. It shows up around 50mph, worse at 70mph and decreases after that. I have new tires, balanced and aligned, new U joints, carrier bearing, ball joints, steering is tight, new clutch and newer/used 5 spd. What else should I do, it doesn't vibrate the steering wheel or pedals so much as it does the seats, shifter and inside door panels. Acceleration, towing etc don't affect it. Should I get drive shaft balanced, $90 for each piece at local shop.

I'm going to try that for each half of drive shaft one at a time. I've already replaced that bearing. Would shocks help?? Mine are really shot.
What about that big round thing on back of transmission. Dampener?

Hey guys I bought Michies about 50k ago from Sears. Initially they were perfect. Following their instructions I took it back at 5k for a balance and rotation. After that shake shake shake. They came up with all kinds of reasons from a bent wheel to out of round tires. Went through all that even new tires (warranty) and still shake shake shake @55mph. They gave up and a young mechanic there pulled me aside and said to bring it back next week after they get the balancers calibrated. They had already had the tires off the truck and test drove it 4 times that day. I brought the truck back and they rebalanced and NNNNNNOOOOO shake. Needless to say they have been rotated but never rebalanced!!!!!!!

Find a tire company/service shop that has one of these:
http://www.gsp9700.com/
I think some Discount tire store have them. The link does have a "find a dealer near you". So you can locate one close.
They not only do a static balance,, but out of round and lateral runout variations. Check out the "more info" links on that page.
Let us know what you figure out. KD

My truck just started something like this last night. I got out on the interstate and set the cruise at 75. I started noticing the 4wd lever vibrating every now and then, kinda off n on like. It progressively got worse after about 20 miles. It's kinda like a vibration that cycles. It only does it between 70 and 75. Its ok at 65 and ok at 80.
I also have Michelin tires. They are due for rotation so I'll get em balanced and see if that takes care of it.

I dont think it is the Kumho tires. I put them under my truck a few thousand miles ago and love them. Before the Kumhos I to had a bad vibration that turned out to be an out of round tire on the front.
