Valair Clutch not so good
So i just bought a 97 dually with 98000 on the clock and the stock clutch was a little wore out so i decided to just get a new one and i decieded on a the valair NMU70119-01 which is supposed to be better than stock well they lied this clutch wont even hold in 4th or 5th and the truck is 100% stock its still a virgin i still got the factory bolts in the afc so now i've put the stock clutch back and now have a 400 dollar paper weight.Valair said they'd send a new one out three weeks ago but to no avail but then again why put the same clutch in again so i can just pull it out and put the stock back in

I had that same clutch in my truck for about 8k miles, 2-3k of that towing a 7500lb trailer. Then I hooked a 40k lbs sled up to it, that seemed to be the limit. Not to second guess ya, but how do you know the old one was worn out? I've seen more than a handfull of stock clutches on stock trucks go well over 100k even with moderate trailer weight. Seeing you got another stick, I doubt its your clutch habits but....a full ceramic isn't meant to slip I think. Easy till it grabs, then go. I had a chatter problem with mine, and slipping it a little on the sled pull (3/4 throttle launch ) just shattered it. Any stock size single disc has it's limits to abuse, just speculating here though.
Also, how did you break it in? New or original flywheel? I got antsy with mine as it was with the 5 spd conversion, so I goosed it a little in 4th and instantly smelled clutch, a few miles from my garage. Did that once more, then calmed down and followed their break in procedure for the most part. Then it never slipped no matter what the load (bogging the motor on a 15% incline with the trailer) or how hard I dumped the clutch.
If they haven't sent you a new one yet, ask for Gary, he handles warranty claims. I got the 13" kev/ceramic for same price as the ceramic, with new flywheel and starter spacer. So far so good, a bit smoother too. Time will tell.

I just took my mechanics word for it ole ken jones at wild diesel said my stock clutch was on its last leg so i figured i'd replace it before i got stranded somewhere
And i followed the break in like it said new flywheel also i dont rod this truck no need to plus this isnt there full ceramic one this is there premiem organic one just step above stock i figured i wouldnt need anymore considering im leaving it stock and just put this one around town i have two others that i beat the hell out of
